Senior Mech Engineer - Antenna and Electronic Packaging

Job Overview

Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Airborne Radar Design department as part of the Radar Antenna Design II section in ElSegundo, CA. The position is on‑site and requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD security clearance. The engineer will provide technical support across the hardware life cycle for airborne radar subsystems, working in a highly collaborative environment.

• Provide technical support on major programs and interface with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers to support design objectives.
• Lead smaller project teams through design development, ensuring procedures are followed and program design objectives are met.
• Work from requirements to develop unit design concepts and perform design trades.
• Be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
• Complete detailed layouts and design documentation using Computer Aided Design tools.
• Provide support to suppliers who fabricate components and assemblies.
• Understand the Engineering Change Release process and work within the company’s Product Data Management (PDM) system.
• Act as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for a subsystem assigned to the program.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or at least five years of relevant experience.
• Experience with ANSI drawing standards and GD&T.
• Experience with electronic packaging for airborne applications.

• Design experience in high‑frequency environments, enclosure design, EMI shielding and thermal management.
• High proficiency with CREO or similar 3D solid modeling software.
• Proficiency in RF principles, RF circuit card design, RF materials, manufacturing and producibility.
• Experience with antenna, receiver, exciter or processor mechanical design.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes for CCAs, metal housings and brazing or experience in a manufacturing and assembly support role.
• Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Prior experience in defense or aerospace.
• Active security clearance.

• Salary range: $95,500 - $181,700 (USD).
