Stellar Solutions is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support the development and rapid deployment of next-generation space sensing capabilities for a Government customer. This role will assess cybersecurity risk across complex space, ground, and hardware systems and help identify vulnerabilities and mitigation needs early in the development lifecycle. The position combines technical cybersecurity analysis, risk assessment, system evaluation, and cross-disciplinary coordination to strengthen mission resilience.
Role/Responsibilities/QualificationsThe Cybersecurity Engineer will support cybersecurity engineering activities for Major Defense Acquisition Programs spanning space, ground, and hardware systems. The role will test, analyze, evaluate, validate, and verify cybersecurity aspects of mission systems while identifying risks that require early mitigation. This position requires close coordination across engineering and program stakeholders to integrate cybersecurity considerations into system development and mission assurance activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support cybersecurity engineering activities across space, ground, and hardware systems.
- Provide technical input to Risk Management Framework activities and associated documentation.
- Plan and execute Mission Based Cyber Risk Assessments and Mission Based Risk Assessments
- Cyber. - Develop threat scenarios to support cyber test events, including Cyber Table Top activities.
- Analyze cybersecurity architectures and network diagrams to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and mitigation needs.
- Evaluate network designs against security objectives, operational objectives, and system trade-offs.
- Apply cybersecurity, privacy, networking, and network security principles to system assessments.
- Support testing, analysis, evaluation, validation, and verification of cybersecurity capabilities and controls.
- Identify cybersecurity risks requiring early mitigation and communicate technical findings to program stakeholders.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines to integrate cybersecurity considerations into system development and mission assurance activities.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a cybersecurity engineer supporting Major Defense Acquisition Programs, including space, ground, and hardware systems.
- Experience providing input to Risk Management Framework process activities and documentation.
- Experience planning and executing Mission Based Cyber Risk Assessments and Mission Based Risk Assessments
- Cyber. - Experience developing threat scenarios to support cyber test events such as Cyber Table Top activities.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles, computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
- Knowledge of network design processes, including security objectives, operational objectives, and trade-offs.
- Ability to perform technical analyses of cybersecurity architectures and network diagrams.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- DoD 8140 Level II certification, such as Security+.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with space-based remote sensing systems.
- Experience developing system security context and preliminary system security Concepts of Operations.
- Experience defining baseline system security requirements in accordance with applicable cybersecurity requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Security, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, or Information Security.
- DoD 8140 Level III certification, such as CISSP, ISSEP, or ISSAP.
