The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an undergraduate level Power Systems Engineering Intern for the Analog and Power Systems Department within the Electronics Engineering Subdivision.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provide Power Systems Engineering technical support. Apply academic technical skills to create satellite energy balance and / or launch vehicle energy depletion analysis models, while working under the guidance and support of industry experts. Work with experienced Power Systems Engineering staff to increase knowledge and understanding of major satellite subsystem elements that operate on the spacecraft and / or launch vehicle power bus.

Utilize and/or develop system level modeling tools and resources that facilitate hardware performance characterization. Learn how satellites operate through launch and initialization. Gain an understanding of how other spacecraft subsystems and related focus areas like Thermal Control, Attitude Control, Flight Mechanics, and Communications work concurrently to generate data products for vehicle level assessments. Gain exposure to power electronics modeling, simulation, and testing in a laboratory environment.

Write clear and concise reports that document your work. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed. Training and mentorship will be provided.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
  • Sophomore class standing completed by internship start date.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Completed coursework and/or fundamental knowledge of power systems.
