Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, like missile warning and Earth observation.

As a Spacecraft Structures Engineer, you will be responsible for working on the structural analysis of space vehicles and their associated mechanical equipment. The parts and systems you may work on will range from spacecraft primary and secondary structure, to ground support equipment, to pointing mechanisms and deployable structures. Your analysis will ensure that our space vehicles survive their complete development and operational life cycles, including prototyping, test, transport, launch, and long-term operations.

This position's internal job code is Structural Analysis Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for levels 3-4.

• Perform structural analysis on high-performing satellite systems, including modal, static, loads generation, acceleration predictions, and stress analysis
• Develop high fidelity structural models to predict both system responses and local environments within the system structure
• Support space vehicle design, configuration, layout, and mass properties analysis
• Identify materials, processes, and facilities support necessary to deliver a qualified spacecraft structure
• Work to subsystem schedule and deliverables
• Manage structural qualification testing on spacecraft systems and components including test design, test conduct, data reduction, analysis, and reporting
• Develop and document required design and analysis processes
• Review part and assembly drawings
• Provide and accept feedback to and from your technical peers
• Other duties as assigned

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A Final Post-Start Top Secret & Special Program Access is required.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 5 or more years of industry experience in finite elements modeling in FEMAP/NASTRAN, or other FEA software packages (e.g. Abaqus, Ansys, Optistruct, etc.)
• 3 or more years' experience with environmental testing, including the analysis and execution of modal characterization, acoustic vibration, random vibration, sine burst, and shock testing.
• 3 or more years' experience with Solid Works or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software
• 1-2 years of hands-on fabrication experience (personal hobby projects, classwork, or extracurricular design clubs included)

• 1-3 years of experience with mechanical design and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with mechanical design of spacecraft, e.g. materials, environments, and manufacturing processes
• Experience with the analysis of mechanisms
• Familiarity with composite structures, couples loads analysis, and/or fracture analysis
• Experience optimizing designs to meet design requirements and safety margins for static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue loads
