IC Prototype Engineer

Internship conversion position for the Mechanical Design and Analysis section within xLab. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

• Generate CAD designs and drawings using Solid Works
• Work with machine shop on manufacturability of designs
• Perform structural analysis using ANSYS
• Support senior engineers in completing more complex tasks
• Support the built and test of prototype design
• Create reports and presentations in Word or PowerPoint to share within and outside xLab
• Responsible for assigned project completion and delivery to customer
• Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
• Training and mentorship will be provided

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year of industry work experience
• Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
• Familiarity with Mechanical Design
• Familiarity with Solid Works
• Willing to travel domestically approx.
  10% of time.
• This position requirestheability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

• 1-2 years of experience in Mechanical Design
• Familiarity with GD&T for drawing tolerancing
• Familiarity with machining processes and welding standards
• Familiarity with structural analysis using software such as ANSYS or NASTRAN
