Financial Reporting, Tax Accountant, Accounting & Finance, Tax Manager
đź’Ľ CPA Required | Big 4 Background Strongly Preferred
If you’re a tax professional who likes to own the full tax picture, not just a slice of it, this is the kind of role that doesn’t open up often.
We’re partnering with a well-established, growth-oriented private equity firm seeking a Tax Manager to step in as the go-to tax leader for a complex investment platform. This role sits close to senior leadership, offers broad visibility across funds and investments, and is ideal for someone ready to move beyond pure compliance into a more strategic, hands-on seat.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- True “everything tax” ownership across funds, entities, and investors
- Direct partnership with senior finance leadership
- Exposure to domestic, international, and investor-level tax matters
- Opportunity to streamline processes and modernize tax operations
- Ideal next step for a Big 4 CPA moving into private equity
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Tax Compliance & Oversight
- Lead all U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax compliance across funds, investment vehicles, holding entities, and the management company
- Coordinate closely with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings
- Oversee the full cycle of partnership tax reporting, including investor K-1s and related filings
Private Equity & Investor Tax Matters
- Manage portfolio company K-1 collection and investor reporting
- Oversee FATCA compliance, FBARs, 1042s, 1099s, and related filings
- Review withholding documentation for non-U.S. investors and ensure proper tax treatment on distributions
- Support non-U.S. tax reporting and foreign investor compliance
Estimates, Allocations & Reporting
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax estimates
- Maintain tax basis calculations, allocation schedules, and distribution waterfalls
- Support holding company financial statements from a tax perspective
- Track PTP-related requirements and reporting
Process Improvement & Partnership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tax service providers
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automation, and documentation
- Support the broader finance team on tax-related initiatives as the platform evolves
What We’re Looking For:
- Active CPA license
- 5+ years of tax experience, ideally a mix of Big 4 public accounting and private equity and/or investment management
- Strong partnership tax background (pass-through entities required)
- Experience with foreign investors, non-U.S. reporting, and complex fund structures
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working independently
- Strong communication skills and the discretion to operate in a confidential environment
- Curious mindset with an interest in technology, automation, and process improvement
This role is a great fit for someone who:
- Enjoys being the tax subject-matter expert, not just a reviewer
- Wants broader exposure than traditional public accounting offers
- Thrives in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment
- Is ready to step into a visible role with real ownership and influence
If you’re a Big 4–trained CPA in the South Bay looking to deepen your private equity experience and own the tax function end to end, let’s talk.
