Senior Accountant; CPA

Position Overview:

As a Senior Accountant (CPA) at Varda, you will be pivotal in ensuring timely and accurate month-end financial reporting. Your role will be crucial in achieving Varda’s strategic goals and in developing our accounting processes as we advance our Winnebago reentry vehicles. You will oversee compliance, complete audit deliverables, and advise on the company’s overall financial plan.

This is a full-time, exempt position based at our El Segundo headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead month-end financial reporting to ensure timely and accurate completion.
– Develop and refine accounting processes as our reentry vehicles are developed.
– Ensure compliance with all accounting and finance regulations.
– Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, and manage intercompany transactions.
– Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to improve business processes and implement automation.
– Provide insights on revenue, spending variances, and departmental reporting.
– Assist in creating Accounting Treatments for new products and company growth.
– Support tax compliance needs and coordinate with local service providers.
– Develop internal policies and documentation.
– Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.
– Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support operational decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or engineering.
– CPA License.
– 4+ years of accounting experience.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Proven track record of managing complex technical projects independently.
– Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with business statistics and modeling complex systems.
– US citizenship or lawful permanent resident status to comply with ITAR regulations.
– Experience with US GAAP accounting standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

– 6+ years of experience in the finance industry, preferably in a technology-based start-up.

– Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm.
– Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS) and multi-currency environments.
– Proficiency with MS Dynamics 365 or other ERP accounting systems.
– Ability to analyze high volumes of transactions and data.
– Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
– Excellent time management and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
– Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
– Knowledge of SQL and/or Python.

Compensation:

– Salary Range: $110,000—$155,000 per year.
– Compensation is based on skills, education, experience, and job performance.
– Eligibility for long-term incentives, including stock options and/or cash awards.
