General Function
Responsible for profitable business development and monitoring the quality of a large portfolio of companies with annual gross sales of at least $10 million and generally less than $500 million within a specific geographic area. Must develop trusted advisory relationships with senior executives (CEO, CFO, COO) of target companies and lead coordination with One Bank partners to create and implement relationship strategies for very large, complex clients and prospects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Business Development:
Identify and develop new, profitable client relationships using centers of influence, referrals, and existing clients. - Grow long‑term profitable client relationships and work with internal partners to deepen those relationships and acquire high‑value prospects.
- Attend community or industry forums, conferences, and meetings to broaden networks, source referrals and deepen knowledge of market trends.
- Portfolio Management:
Collaborate with One Bank partners (Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, etc.) to analyze, evaluate, and develop tailored relationship strategies for each client or prospect. - Plan and conduct relationship‑strategy review meetings with Fifth Third partners and clients’ trusted advisors (e.g., attorneys, accountants).
- Client
Experience:
Meet with customers regularly to enhance the trusted advisor relationship, coordinate all client‑facing activities (credit support, treasury, capital markets), and use the bank’s CRM system to track client activity, call reports, and pipeline management. - Credit Excellence:
Analyze financial information to determine appropriate credit requests, partner with portfolio managers and credit officers, and adhere to portfolio‑management guidelines. - Monitor, on an ongoing basis, customers’ financial performance, industry trends, and credit exposure to manage risk and price appropriately.
No formal supervisory responsibilities. Expected to provide guidance to Commercial Relationship ManagersI &II.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of commercial banking experience (9 years of relationship account management preferred).
- Formalized commercial credit training or equivalent credit experience required; underwriting experience preferred.
- Proven track record partnering with investment bankers for strategic and capital‑market advice.
- Strong business acumen, including detailed financial statement analysis and accounting‑principle knowledge.
- Thorough knowledge of Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, and alternative financing options.
- Ability to assess client needs, profitability drivers, and an optimal financial‑solutions life cycle.
- Excellent presentation skills in both large and small group settings and adept at influencing clients on strategy and product solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective negotiation experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with prospecting and CRM tools preferred.
- Strong ability to work in a team‑based sales environment.
Base salary range: $121,900 – $262,100 USD annually. Eligible for incentive compensation based on performance. Comprehensive benefits package supporting physical, financial, emotional, and social well‑being.
