A high-growth, venture-backed technology company is hiring a Senior Dev Ops Engineer with a strong software engineering mindset
. This role sits at the intersection of Dev Ops, SRE, and backend engineering, with a heavy emphasis on writing production-quality code
, building internal platforms, and enabling engineering teams through robust tooling.
This is not a ticket-based infrastructure role. You’ll be designing and building software systems that power CI/CD, simulation environments, developer workflows, and large-scale compute infrastructure used in a highly technical, safety-critical environment.
What you’ll be doing- Writing and maintaining production-grade code to support internal platforms, tooling, and automation
- Designing and building developer productivity tools that improve build, test, deployment, and runtime workflows
- Developing and operating cloud and on-prem infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code, with a strong focus on maintainability and scalability
- Building and evolving CI/CD systems as software products, not just pipelines
- Working closely with software engineers to support complex workloads, simulations, and internal services
- Owning containerised environments using Kubernetes and Docker, with an engineering-first approach to reliability and performance
- Setting engineering standards across Dev Ops, SRE, and platform tooling
- 8+ years of experience across Dev Ops, SRE, Platform, or Backend Engineering roles
- Strong coding ability in Python or Go, with experience building tools, services, or internal platforms
- A background that includes real software development, not just configuration or operations
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working close to the system level
- Experience collaborating with software engineering teams in fast-moving, technical environments
- Ability to work full-time onsite in El Segundo, CA
- Experience building internal developer platforms or productivity tooling
- Background in highly technical, compute-heavy, or simulation-driven environments
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering concepts
- Interest in physics, hardware, or complex engineering systems
- This is a full-time, onsite role and may occasionally require extended hours depending on project needs
