Principal Linux Administrator

Responsibilities

• Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
• Work as a team member in a fast‑paced technological environment.
• Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of basic to moderate scope and complexity, including integration of hardware and operating systems.
• Execute actions as directed by senior staff and project management.
• Engage in cross‑team collaboration and align with expectations of the leadership team.
• Manage ESXi, VCenter, and Microsoft Windows domains.
• Maintain Windows Server or Linux fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and server replication methods.
• Configure and maintain hardware RAID, hardware/software encryption, and server management tools.
• Perform data backup and restore using industry best practices.
• Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
• Work 24/7 as systems are operational 24x7; occasional work beyond standard hours may be required.
• Travel up to 10% per year to other U.S. domestic locations as business needs dictate.
• Full‑time, 100% onsite position.

• University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
• Must obtain DoDD 8140 / 8570 Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 6 months of start date.

• Experience deploying Windows workstations and migrating end‑user data.
• Experience with cloning techniques.
• Experience using and guiding the use of automation tools such as Ansible.
• Experience with operating system concepts and implementations.
• Microsoft Windows Active Directory Services administration and support (user and computer objects administration, Group Policy).
• Experience with network services related to Microsoft Windows environment (e.g., DC, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Experience supporting desktop/workstation hardware.
• Experience with an IT incident/service request system.

• Salary range: $95,500 – $181,700 USD.
