Overview

The Senior Manager, Security Operations is responsible for strategy, governance, and operational oversight of Mattel's global Security Operations program. The role leads the enterprise Security Operations capability across internal teams and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service providers, ensuring effective detection, investigation, response, and recovery from cybersecurity threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Operations Leadership – Lead Mattel’s global Security Operations program, including strategic oversight of MDR services, cyber incident response, cyber investigations, threat intelligence, detection engineering, and governance. Define strategic roadmap, establish governance and best practices, drive continuous improvement through automation and AI, manage budgets and vendor investments, build capabilities, present to executive leadership, and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Managed Detection & Response (MDR) Governance – Own the strategy, governance, and operational performance of MDR services. Lead operational governance of MDR providers, define SLOs, KPIs, escalation procedures, and service governance processes, conduct regular operational reviews, coordinate high‑severity incidents with providers and internal teams, evaluate metrics such as MTTD and MTTR, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Third‑Party Security Incident Management – Lead response to incidents involving third‑party vendors, SaaS providers, cloud service providers, and other strategic partners. Coordinate assessment, containment, remediation, and recovery; use Recorded Future intelligence; collaborate with Vendor Risk Management, Procurement, Legal, Privacy, and Enterprise Risk Management; serve as primary point of contact during significant events; manage contractual obligations and communications; develop governance, playbooks, and escalation procedures.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, including Security Operations, Incident Response, or Cyber Defense.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing global cybersecurity operations teams within large, multinational organizations.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise Security Operations programs, including SOC, MDR, and cyber incident response.
  • Experience serving as Incident Manager during major cybersecurity incidents.
  • Experience leading complex cyber investigations and coordinating cross‑functional response activities.
  • Experience managing third‑party security incidents involving cloud providers, SaaS platforms, and supply chain partners.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise Security Operations technologies such as Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR), Managed Detection & Response (MDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation & Response (SOAR), Threat Intelligence Platforms, Detection Engineering, and Threat Hunting.
  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and NIST SP 800‑61 Incident Handling.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, organizational leadership, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity while making sound operational and strategic decisions.
