Job Summary
We are seeking a Procurement Agent who will serve as a key leader and collaborative member of the procurement team, working closely with cross‑functional partners including Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Engineering, Program Controls, Program Management, Shipping/Receiving/Inventory, Finance, Accounts Payable, and other supply chain areas such as Material Planning and Supplier/Compliance Operations. This role is responsible for leading strategic procurement initiatives, managing complex supplier negotiations, supporting process improvement efforts, contributing to CPSR compliance implementation, and executing purchase orders.
The position is an onsite role at our office in El Segundo, California.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
- Partner with engineers and other internal stakeholders to ensure source selection and procurements meet program requirements (schedule, cost, and quality).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day issues, questions, and status inquiries.
- Work with the manager to support the development and implementation of new changes and goals.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Material Planning and Supplier/Compliance Operations, to support overall supply‑chain efficiency.
- Analyze and understand team performance metrics (KPIs), identify areas for improvement, and implement tactical solutions that drive measurable gains in procurement efficiency, cost savings, supplier performance, and on‑time delivery.
- Effectively guide and motivate team members.
- Work with the manager to think strategically and develop long‑term plans that align with supply‑chain goals.
- Interpret data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
- Identify root causes, develop creative solutions, and implement effective resolutions within the team.
- Actively manage the procurement process by placing orders and ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Provide oversight of FAR/DFARS compliance and ensure team adherence to internal processes in alignment with DCAA audit requirements and AS9100 standards.
- Maintain audit readiness and support continuous improvement to meet regulatory and quality expectations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Remain flexible and pivot strategies as needed to respond to evolving disruptions, adapting to challenges and obstacles to achieve objectives.
- Create and implement processes and strategies such as Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Blanket Purchase Orders, Long‑Term Agreements, and future forecasting.
- Play a key role in the process improvement of the MRP system to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external suppliers to facilitate collaboration and performance.
- Assist with recurring issues involving Shipping & Receiving and Inventory management as necessary.
- Host and/or lead technical calls with suppliers and engineers to resolve issues and drive innovation.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in procurement.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required, and a final U.S. clearance Post‑Start is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in aerospace, preferred with buying.
- Familiarity with FAR/DFARS and relevant procurement regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Procurement, Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience as an Aerospace Buyer or Subcontracts Administration.
- APICS/ASCM Certification.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Active Security Clearance SAP/SAR.
- Comfortable briefing all levels of leadership.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is required. A U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required. Applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
