Material Project Manager – Millennium Space Systems Company

We are seeking a Material Project Manager (MPM) to support material strategies with the Program Management Office and Manufacturing Organization, maintain cost and schedule lead times, identify and mitigate program risks and opportunities, and report/tracking all program material activities. This is an onsite role in ElSegundo, California. The internal job title is Business Ops Specialist and the position is at level
3.

Position Responsibilities
  • Support Control Account Management (CAM) activities associated with material, including baseline schedule and cost planning, providing IMS status, Estimates to Complete (ETC), Estimates at Complete (EAC), variance reporting, and other financial responsibilities.
  • Identify material-related risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Aggregate all engineering material requirements, determine procurement strategy while design is mature, and translate it into Material Resource Planning (MRP) requirements.
  • Assist engineering in design trades to determine make‑buy strategies, supplier sourcing, and modifications to material to meet requirements, cost, and schedule.
  • Analyze material requirements to provide program summaries that include lines of balance, issue identification, and other metrics relevant to the program scope.
  • Partner with procurement to engage the supply base to assess costs, lead times, and strategies to achieve program requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure all parts are designed for manufacturing and prevent build‑process issues.
  • Execute processes and systems for tracking and reporting material-related metrics such as lead times, lines of balance, and supplier performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for program and the company to enhance material procurement processes, streamline workflows, and optimize supply‑chain efficiency.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in material management, procurement, manufacturing, or supply‑chain management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply‑chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of material planning principles and supply‑chain best practices.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Experience in DoD or government contracts, design development programs, and programs with EVMS requirements.
  • Comfort operating in an ambiguous environment and a self‑starter capable of supporting organizational and program objectives.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of internal management as well as supplier management.
