The TeamThe Strategy and Corporate Development team is a small, elite group responsible for Mattel’s overall corporate strategy, including strategic planning, M&A and corporate development, and strategic projects. This is a high-profile team working with a diverse mix of internal and external stakeholders.
The OpportunityMattel is seeking a Director to join the Corporate Strategy and Development team at our El Segundo, CA headquarters. This role shapes the future of Mattel and its franchise brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, American Girl, Monster High, and Uno.

Corporate Strategy:
- Partner with EVP, Chief Strategy Officer to identify and execute key strategic initiatives, collaborating with ELT leaders and brand/functional teams.
- Lead the strategic planning process with Finance to identify and assess growth initiatives and enable resource allocation for strategic multi-year investments; direct engagement with the ELT and Board.
- Lead and support key strategic projects for the ELT and Board with cross-functional teams.
- Develop deep relationships across Mattel's GBT, Commercial, Franchise, and Supply Chain organizations to support key business priorities.
- Bachelor's degree; MBA highly desirable, from a top-tier university
- 12+ years of experience, ideally in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, and/or strategy and corporate development at a leading consumer, media, or tech company
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment and develop high-caliber Talent
- Exceptional quantitative skills and financial acumen
- Ability to build trust-based relationships and influence diverse stakeholders
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines with tight timelines
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and quantitative skills
- Self-starter with comfort in ambiguity; proactive from day 1
- Persuasive written and verbal communication skills tailored to a broad audience
