Position: Manufacturing Manager - 2nd Shift - Millennium Space Systems

Overview

The Boeing Company, Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company delivers affordable, high‑performance space systems for exacting customers. Millennium Space Systems is a close‑knit team focused on exciting technological problems, open collaboration, and opportunities for advancement. The Production team is looking for a versatile aerospace manufacturing leader to oversee the production of low Earth orbit satellites. The role is a key leadership position in manufacturing and assembly for our products, responsible for design for manufacturability and continuous improvement to deliver space‑grade avionics, structures, and propulsion hardware at high rate and low cost.

Personnel safety and product reliability are top priorities. The candidate will advocate for the team and serve as the technical subject matter expert for the broader production and supply chain organization, ensuring resources are available to succeed. The role also includes developing growth and capability within the manufacturing and supply chain department, with emphasis on integrity, curiosity, empathy, technical capability, and team motivation.

This position requires the ability to work second shift (3:30pm–1:00am). The internal job code is Manufacturing Manager, with current hiring for a level K.

Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of support for the manufacturing technician team
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to each team member via frequent 1:1s and formal performance reviews
  • Establish career development plans and foster individual growth to maximize potential and guide career trajectory
  • Advocate for the team and cultivate an environment where they can be successful
  • Manage communication within the team by providing context for higher‑level decisions
  • Develop cross‑training initiatives, staffing plans, and a robust recruiting pipeline to support growing business needs
  • Establish and increase the efficiency of business processes to maximize output and enable rapid transition from engineering development to high‑rate production
  • Leverage cross‑functional relationships to identify improvement opportunities, align on priorities, and execute initiatives to reduce lead time and labor hours
  • Use data to establish, monitor, and improve manufacturing metrics including safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Enable manufacturing and supply chain autonomy by challenging requirements, simplifying work processes, and automating actions
  • Partner with peer engineering teams to implement design changes in response to manufacturing and supply chain issues, customer challenges, new vehicle architectures, and standardization initiatives
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of experience leading technician teams
  • Experience working with various manufacturing execution systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Proficiency with PC applications, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Associate's degree (or equivalent) in business
  • Demonstrated ability to aggregate, visualize, and analyze data (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power

    BI)
  • Familiarity with PCBA manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, propulsion production, mechanisms fabrication, or structures build
  • Demonstrated ability to scale manufacturing rate capability

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Summary Pay Range

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
