, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have a direct impact on global security, including missile warning and Earth observation.
The Leader of Manufacturing (internally, Director of Manufacturing) oversees satellite component assembly, testing, and delivery to satellite integration. The department includes manufacturing engineers, operations researchers, and technicians. The role reports to the VP of Manufacturing and partners with the Manufacturing leadership team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Provide leadership to manufacturing personnel, ensuring products are manufactured safely to the highest quality standards and service levels while achieving cost improvement goals.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of manufacturing capacity, workforce, throughput, and bottlenecks.
- Assist with factory build efforts, including staffing, planning of satellite production lines, and flight program builds (classified and unclassified).
- Define and execute continuous improvement strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Manage manufacturing engineers and technicians to produce satellite components and support integration.
- Lead transitions from low-rate initial production to higher rate production and from one manufacturing location to another.
- Support proposals for future contracts and coordinate throughout the proposal gate review process.
- Implement AS9100 quality practices.
- Partner with Boeing Space Mission Systems Operations as a Boeing non‑fully integrated subsidiary leader.
- Manage manufacturing and process improvement budgets, including capital budgets.
- Communicate the state of the company to manufacturing and production personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, test engineering, material and process engineering, or similar fields in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries.
- Subject‑matter expertise in harnesses, PCBA, structural assembly or bonding, mechanisms, or composite honeycomb machining.
- High proficiency in MRP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of satellite manufacturing engineering principles and concepts.
- Experience working with a union‑represented workforce.
- Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Strong technical problem‑solving skills.
- 10+ years of experience in satellite manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to scale manufacturing rate capability.

Total RewardsCompetitive base pay and variable compensation, along with benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, are provided. Pay range for Level L is $181,900 – $267,500.

- Position requires U.S. Security Clearance.
