Position Overview

Mechanical Technician B Second Shift – Millennium Space Systems Company

Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, test, checkout, and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures.
  • Visually inspect mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written procedures.
  • Operate a wide range of machine tools, including drill press, grinders, chop saw, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Mix and apply epoxy materials.
  • Prepare and bond components to composite structures.
  • Support other mechanical areas defined by leadership as business needs require.
  • Perform incidental related duties as assigned or required.
  • Work 100% onsite in El Segundo, California.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience reading basic blueprints.
  • Experience following written and verbal work instructions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems.
  • Experience with mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly, and repair.
  • Capable of lifting 20lb or more frequently.
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods with short breaks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 1 year of experience interpreting manufacturing blueprints.
  • More than 1 year of experience mixing epoxy materials.
  • More than 1 year of experience with hand tools (calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gauges, thread gauges, go/no‑go gauges, etc.).
  • More than 1 year of experience with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, micro bonder, vacuum gauges, and heat blankets.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with Company Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
Other Information
  • Shift: Primarily second shift; additional shifts may be required. Candidates must be able to work any assigned shift.
  • Union:
    Hourly union‑represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local
    721). New hires or transfers from non‑union roles may need mandatory training during the 90‑day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of probation.
  • Security Clearance:
    Requires ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Interim and/or final U.S. top‑secret clearance post‑start is required.
  • Relocation:
    Relocation assistance is not negotiable. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
  • Travel:
    Position may require up to 5% travel.
  • Drug‑Free Workplace:
    Drug testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol as outlined in policies.
  • Pay Range: $22.58–$33.33 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).
