Adecco Creative & Marketing is partnering with a leading beauty brand seeking a Product Development Associate to support the Lip Category within their Product Development team. This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Product Development and play a key role in bringing innovative lip products from concept to launch. The ideal candidate is highly organized, passionate about makeup artistry and texture innovation, has a strong understanding of color theory, and stays closely connected to emerging beauty trends.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on cosmetic product development experience who enjoys working cross-functionally with labs, marketing, packaging, and regulatory teams to create best-in-class beauty products.

This role is hybrid in El Segundo, CA with a payrate of $28-29hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation of detailed product development briefs for laboratory partners, outlining performance expectations, benchmark products, shade direction, and aesthetic goals.
  • Evaluate formula submissions from internal and external laboratories, providing feedback on texture, payoff, wear, application, scent, and overall performance.
  • Guide laboratories through shade modifications, undertone adjustments, and color matching to ensure products perform across a diverse range of skin tones.
  • Manage formula submissions and revisions, maintaining organized records, feedback logs, and approved formula standards.
  • Coordinate internal panel testing and gather feedback on product comfort, texture, application, and consumer appeal.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive benchmarking of lip products, ingredient innovations, and market-leading launches.
  • Monitor beauty industry trends, viral social media products, and emerging consumer preferences to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Develop and present trend reports highlighting new textures, application formats, shade directions, and market opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Packaging, Regulatory, and laboratory teams throughout the development process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetology, Marketing, Business, or a related scientific or creative field.
  • 2–4 years of cosmetic product development experience, preferably within color cosmetics.
  • Direct lip category experience is highly preferred.
  • Beauty retail experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of color theory, shade development, and cosmetic product evaluation.
  • Ability to assess and articulate sensory characteristics including slip, drag, cushion, payoff, tackiness, and wear.
  • Excellent visual color perception (candidate must be able to pass a color acuity assessment).
  • Passion for beauty, makeup artistry, social media trends, and emerging cosmetic innovations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and creative teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of cosmetic product development experience.
  • Experience evaluating color cosmetic formulas and shade submissions.
  • Strong understanding of color theory and texture evaluation.
  • Passion for beauty trends, makeup artistry, and product innovation.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills.
