Company OverviewHybron Technologies is an advanced manufacturing startup developing a new manufacturing method for fiber-reinforced polymer composites. Our process is designed to enable more complex parts to be manufactured with higher quality and strength at substantially faster production rates.
We are applying this technology to demanding aerospace, defense and energy applications. Joining Hybron is an opportunity to work directly with engineers and manufacturing personnel while helping build the processes, equipment and shop systems behind a new manufacturing technology.
About the RoleThis is a full-time, in-person position at our El Segundo facility.
ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC vertical mills and, depending on experience, CNC lathes.
Run released CNC programs for molds, tooling, prototypes and production components.
Load and measure cutting tools, establish work offsets and verify setups before machining.
Perform first-piece, in-process and final dimensional inspections.
Make appropriate tool-wear and dimensional-offset adjustments.
Monitor cutting conditions and identify tool wear, chatter, chip-control issues and other process problems.
Escalate programming, setup or quality concerns before producing nonconforming hardware.
Read and follow engineering drawings, setup documentation, work instructions and inspection requirements.
Prepare raw material using saws and other shop equipment.
Deburr, clean, mark and finish machined components without damaging critical features or tolerances.
Support tooling inventory, tool presetting and organization of standard cutting-tool assemblies.
Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication checks and preventative-maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate job status, inspection and production records.
Keep machines, work areas and shared tooling clean, organized and ready for use.
Assist with material handling, job kitting and movement of work through the shop.
Communicate schedule risks, equipment issues, scrap events and quality concerns clearly.
Participate in continuous-improvement, 5S and shop-standardization projects.
Support other manufacturing and prototype-build activities as business needs require.
Two or more years of CNC machining or related machine-shop experience; relevant technical-school or apprenticeship experience may qualify.
Experience operating CNC vertical machining centers and performing basic-to-intermediate setups.
Ability to prove out new programs and identify unsafe or incorrect machining conditions.
Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances and basic GD&T.
Proficiency with common inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, indicators and height gauges.
Working knowledge of cutting tools, work holding, shop math and machining safety.
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication and reliability.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain standing for extended periods.
U.S. Person status pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions.
Three or more years of CNC setup and machining experience.
Experience with Haas CNC mills and lathes.
Experience machining molds, tooling, prototypes or low-volume aerospace components.
Familiarity with probing, tool setters, G-code editing and CNC troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion CAM or similar software.
Experience with manual machine tools and controlled quality systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
Within the first several months, a successful CNC Machining Technician will be able to:
Safely operate Hybron’s primary CNC equipment with limited supervision.
Complete routine setups using established programs and setup documentation.
Produce conforming components while completing required inspections.
Recognize abnormal cutting conditions and stop a job before equipment or parts are damaged.
Keep tooling, machines and work areas organized and production-ready.
