Position Overview
Shinkei Systems is pioneering technology to deliver the highest-quality seafood at scale.
We’re looking for a Lab Tech to join our team at the intersection of fish biology research, engineering, and real-world operations. Your work will be pivotal in developing an industry-leading system to quantify the quality of fish.
You will work hands-on with fish samples in a laboratory setting: setting up experiments, handling and evaluating fish based on taste, odor, and visual cues using Shinkei’s internal scales and lexicon. You will act as a dedicated, reliable sensory panelist, rigorously following established protocols and maintaining the highest standards of objectivity and focus. You will generate highly precise objective sensory data by performing character and intensity annotations.
Success in this role requires a highly meticulous and organized focus; a background or a demonstrated interest in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or Culinary Science; as well as proven gustatory and olfactory acuity (candidates will be required to pass a sensory acuity screening).
If the idea of working at the intersection of biology and technology to help pioneer industry-leading standards for seafood quality excites you, this role is for you.
This is a part-time, in-person position based in our El Segundo office.
