Job Summary
The role is an on‑site HVAC and Refrigeration Mechanic working the 1st Shift (6:00AM – 2:30PM) at El Segundo, California. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and must hold a valid EPA
608 universal certification.
- Perform complex servicing of installed HVAC and infrastructure systems, including chillers, boilers, pumps, air compressors, fan coil units, air handling units, DX units, condensers, test chambers, refrigerated lab equipment, VAV boxes, valves, coils, cooling towers, piping, wiring, control systems, thermostats, building automation systems, pneumatic systems, flow benches, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and other related equipment.
- Operate routine and emergency repairs, calibrate flows, ventilators, and ventilation hoods, and manage housekeeping in equipment and work areas.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, control schematics, and equipment manuals; maintain knowledge of International Building Codes and NEC as applied to HVAC systems.
- Provide recommendations regarding air‑conditioning systems, maintenance, and repairs; develop historical operating data, material take‑off lists, and place orders for parts and materials.
- Use general computer skills to maintain records, time, order parts, process work orders, and perform related clerical functions.
- Use knowledge of building automatic systems such as Delta Controls to support overall system operation.
- Assist other trades on building emergencies and perform incidental duties as required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in HVAC or completion of technical school/formal training.
- Valid EPA
608 universal technician certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, shop drawings, and manufacturer’s technical manuals.
- Industry experience in building automation and process controls.
- Basic understanding of VAV box and Belimo valve operation in a DDC control environment.
- Strong time‑management and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to assist other trades during building emergencies.
- Skill in system replacement/installation and unit start‑up.
Hourly range: $28.05 – $47.16 (good faith estimate representative of all experience levels).
