Senior Data Engineer – Job Description
The Senior Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in optimizing and architecting our data warehouse across various sources. This role will design and optimize data models, storage structures, and compute workflows, ensuring reliability, governance, and long-term maintainability. The engineer will develop robust ELT pipelines, establish engineering best practices, and partner closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver a unified, trusted data ecosystem that powers advanced analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
This is an on‑site role based in El Segundo, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Develop scalable data pipelines to support both batch processing and realtime streaming workloads.
- Lead end‑to‑end data architecture decisions and development to ensure scalability, reliability, and long‑term platform evolution.
- Work across platforms to integrate data from Databricks, CRM systems, and external systems into a unified, reliable ecosystem.
- Establish best‑practice warehouse architecture that ensures consistency, governance, and high‑quality data across the platform.
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual workflows and improve pipeline reliability.
- Ensure platform observability through monitoring, alerting, logging, and cost‑optimization strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and support in developing strong engineering practices.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners (Analytics, Ticketing, Marketing) to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
- Continuously improve knowledge and abilities in the areas of software engineering, statistical learning, and machine learning.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Strong work ethic and passion for technology.
- Understanding of business needs and ability to translate into engineering solutions.
- Collaborative skills, with an eye toward being a technical mentor to junior members of the team.
- Familiarity with hockey is a plus.
BA/BS Degree (4‑year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) Computer Science, Data Science, or similar field.
Experience- 4‑6 years related work experience.
- Expert knowledge of SQL, Python, and Spark.
- Demonstrable experience designing database structures and architecting scalable solutions.
- Demonstrable experience with Databricks and Infrastructure as code.
- Demonstrable experience with code collaboration software, e.g., git.
- Preferred Qualifications:
MA/MS Degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent degree.
$111,657 - $135,000
BonusThis position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
