Job Overview
We are looking for an Aerospace Software Test Engineer (Senior Member of Technical Staff/Engineering Specialist – Multidisciplinary Guidance Navigation & Control) to join our Vehicle Systems Software Department in ElSegundo,CA. The role requires a minimum of four days onsite per week.
Responsibilities- Support customers in the National Reconnaissance Office and Department of Defense.
- Develop models of space system components (sensors, actuators, vehicle dynamics) for software‑in‑the‑loop, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, and emulator‑based simulators.
- Conduct tests and perform analyses of software systems embedded in launch vehicles, spacecraft, Cube Sats, and other mission‑critical components.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of simulations to support software validation, on‑orbit anomaly resolution, and day‑of‑launch mission assurance.
- Develop tools and techniques for enhancing analysis and simulation capabilities.
- Foster innovation within the team and deliver results to the customer.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 4 years of applicable professional or educational experience.
- Experience performing technical support in complex environments involving customers, program offices, engineering support, and contractors.
- Programming experience in Python and Java or C/C++.
- Relevant project experience in dynamics, control systems, control algorithm design, or modeling & simulation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- For Engineering Specialist role: 6+ years of applicable experience, previous experience leading highly technical project teams, and familiarity with CI/CD tools.
- Advanced degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
- Familiarity with launch vehicle and satellite payloads and their subsystems.
- Proficiency with software development processes and tools (compilers, IDEs, coding standards).
- Experience with Linux/Unix, network architecture, and cyber security.
- Experience with machine learning and AI development.
- Knowledge of real‑time embedded software testing.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence).
