Senior Software Security Engineer (Onsite, El Segundo, CA)
Join RTX’s Software Product Assurance team to support development of embedded software for defense applications.
What You Will Do- Implement software security principles into embedded software design, development, integration, and testing for real‑time sensor software.
- Develop software applications using C and C++ on a variety of computing platforms.
- Ensure SW Product Assurance processes are followed on our programs.
- Understand real‑time software design and performance implications of specific system security implementations.
- Work closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to define and implement Test Driven Multi‑Disciplinary Capability (TDMC) based execution, development and deployment requirements.
- Support program ability to leverage specific capabilities in a common development environment.
- Interface with the customer community to review technical design and support verification of system maturity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant software experience.
- Experience developing software using C/C++.
- Experience with Xilinx Ultra Scale+ MPSoC, Versal, or similar embedded processors.
- Experience with embedded OS such as VxWorks, Embedded Linux, or similar.
- Embedded software security experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Designing, implementing, testing, or fielding real‑time security‑oriented solutions on DoD programs (embedded experience highly preferred).
- Cybersecurity experience and use of security‑relevant tools and devices (network security, host/server security, communication security, policy management).
- Knowledge of secure boot, containerization, hardening concepts, static analysis tools and methods.
- Experience with Petalinux/Yocto operating systems.
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban and Dev Sec Ops environments.
- Python or Perl programming skills.
- Understanding of modern computer architecture and hardware technologies (ARM, PCIe, GPIO, I2C, SATA, FPGAs, ASICs).
- Experience with software configuration management and bug‑tracking tools.
- Experience validating and verifying software applications.
- Technical leadership experience to grow and lead a small technical team.
- Must obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret).
- U.S. citizenship required.
Salary range: $95,500 – $181,700 USD (depending on experience).

Annual incentive compensation programs may be offered based on level and business performance.
