Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) – Experienced Software EngineerLocation:
El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.
Role:
Full stack development using AWS infrastructure. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to design and implement scalable software solutions, ensuring engineering excellence and achieving program objectives.
- Develop, test, and maintain web applications that meet industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
- Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.
- Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for system integrations.
- Document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.
- Participate in the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings.
- Analyze, characterize, debug, and resolve performance‑related issues to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
- Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
- Establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
- Execute and document software research and development projects.
- Advise on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes, and regulations.
- Perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
- Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.
- Perform cost‑benefit analysis to guide technical solutions.
This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship required). A clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3 + years experience designing and developing software for complex systems (e.g., distributed systems, multi‑threaded and multi‑process applications) and a foundation in computer science and software development.
- 3 + years experience with Python.
- 3 + years experience with front‑end web programming (Angular 9/10+, Type Script, JavaScript).
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5 + years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9 + years of directly related experience OR 13 + years of related experience.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Experience with agile development and structured development processes.
- Experience with infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience building regression test suites.
- Experience in systems engineering or software development on space‑based or ground‑based systems.
Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
Work Location100 % onsite. Required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.
TravelPosition may require up to 10 % travel.

Total RewardsCompetitive base pay and variable compensation. Pay range: USD $135,150 – $182,850. Benefits include health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, paid and unpaid time off, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions and student loan match.
