ABOUT THE COMPANYWe are a stealth-stage technology and tools company founded by one of the most influential figures in the
history of 3D and stereoscopic filmmaking. Our mission is simple to say and hard to do: make shooting in native
3D as routine and affordable as ordinary 2D, across film, television, live events, and sports, built on three
decades of the most advanced stereoscopic technology ever put on screen.
Two recent milestones accelerate the work. We acquired a world-renowned precision 3D-camera and
stereography team whose rigs are behind some of the most technically ambitious films of the past decade. And
we entered a multi-year partnership with one of the world's largest technology platforms to bring native 3D
content to a leading immersive headset.
We are a small, focused team about two years into active R&D, designing custom 3D camera and production
hardware end to end, including cameras engineered for environments most electronics never survive, from
underwater to extreme-condition shoots. This is genuine ground-floor work, and what you build here will show
up on the largest screens in the world.
THE ROLE
You will write the firmware that brings our custom camera hardware to life, the layer between the electronics
and the software that makes the sensors, interfaces, and controls all work together. This is a growth role: you
will come in strong on embedded fundamentals and grow into more complex systems, including embedded
Linux, as our hardware scales.
This is hands-on work on a small team. You will write firmware, debug it on the bench with a scope and logic
analyzer, and iterate directly with the PCB and FPGA engineers who built the hardware you are bringing up.
- Write bare-metal firmware on microcontrollers (STM
32-class and similar) that drives the camera hardware: peripherals, interrupts, communication, and control. - Build and debug the low-level drivers that let the parts of the system talk to each other (UART, SPI, I2C, and more).
- Bring up new boards, verifying clocks, power, and communication on first hardware, alongside the PCB and FPGA engineers.
- Debug hardware-and-firmware issues at the bench with scopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Build simple Python or shell tooling for testing and automation.
- Grow into embedded Linux, board support, and more complex multi-processor systems as you ramp.
- A couple of years (roughly 2 to
3) of hands-on embedded firmware. You have shipped real code that runs on real hardware. - Solid C on small microcontrollers: interrupts, timers, DMA, and working directly with the hardware registers (STM
32 experience is a plus). - Comfortable writing or modifying low-level drivers (UART, SPI, I2C), not just calling vendor libraries.
- Bench-comfortable: happy with a scope, logic analyzer, and debugger, and able to read a schematic well enough to know what your code is talking to.
- Solid with the everyday basics (Git, Make or CMake, a scripting language like Python).
- Genuinely eager to grow into embedded Linux and bigger systems. We will invest in you, but you have to want it.
- Low ego, high ownership. On a small team, nothing is beneath this role.
- Any embedded Linux exposure (Yocto or Buildroot, device trees, kernel or driver work).
- RTOS experience, or work with application processors (NXP i.MX or similar).
- Any camera or imaging firmware (sensor initialization, video timing, metadata, lens control).
- Boot loader or firmware-update work, and robust error recovery for field-deployed gear.
- Experience in film, television, broadcast, or live-event technology.
