Software Engineer
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Systems Engineer (Level
4) for a contract opportunity in El Segundo, CA.
- 5+ years of experience with software development for space systems and ground segments performing command, control, mission planning and data processing
- 5+ years of experience in the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
- 3+ years of experience leading software development projects
- 3+ years of experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment and Dev Ops methodologies
Our team creates software tools and services for the world’s highest performing satellite/ground systems for USG and Commercial customers. We work with customers in the development of the next generation ground systems. Duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Develop and maintain requirements, architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and design for high-performance Command and Control (C2) software solutions.
- Lead software development activities in the scaled agile methodology utilizing a Dev Sec Ops environment. Supporting software development activities and integrating completed software components into a fully functional software system.
- Support progress demonstration presentations to customer representatives and program/IPT leadership.
- Perform day-to-day activities in the areas Product Owner/Technical Lead, Release Train Engineer/Scrum Master, and/or Integration & Test lead.
- Support IPT by implementing a structured approach to defining and meeting a development and integration schedule alongside a rigorously managed cost baseline.
- Experience as a Product Owner/Technical Lead and/or Integration & Test Lead for government programs.
- Understanding of Command and Control (C2) systems, real-time applications, and their specific requirements.
- Experience with database technologies (SQL/No
SQL), messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, ActiveMQ), and data streaming technologies (e.g., CCSDS). - Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms.
- Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines in Git Lab to automate testing, builds, and deployment workflows.
- Experience with various formal acceptance testing activities (e.g., Formal Qualification Test
-FQT, Factory Acceptance Test - FAT, Site Acceptance Test - SAT)
EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor and typically 9 or more years' related work experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
WORK HOURS:FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
