Sr. Buyer Aviation/Aerospace Dept (44807-5)

Manage goods throughout the quoting, purchasing, receiving, and shipping process.

Handle inquiries from customers.

Obtain quotations based on customers' requests.

Maintain accurate records related to purchases.

Issue purchase orders.

Confirm the accuracy of all data.

Solve customer claims with support from superiors.

Gather data about suppliers when necessary.

Make suggestions for improvements to both customers and internally.

Communicate with suppliers and customers to maintain good relationships.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Purchase aircraft parts and other merchandise from established suppliers based on customer requirements, prices, and product availability to meet customer needs.

Complete appropriate processes for each purchase, such as purchase orders and other documentation. Ensure the best price, quality, and delivery schedule in consultation with the manager.

Communicate with customers regarding aircraft parts and equipment purchases. Provide price quotes, take purchase orders, establish delivery lead times, and discuss any potential issues impacting delivery. Follow up on special requests and pre-delivery questions.

Seek the most efficient shipping and routing methods and arrange for expedited delivery when necessary, prioritizing customer service. Research and track invoicing and shipping documentation from suppliers.

Prepare invoicing and shipping documentation for customers when goods are ready to ship.

Meet with vendors periodically to review new products, discuss pricing and delivery schedules, resolve issues, and maintain professional relationships.

Prepare and process necessary documentation such as repair orders, airway bills, and manifests for outgoing parts, whether to repair facilities or customers. Inform customers of repair needs and authorize repairs within pre-determined limits. Communicate extraordinary repair charges for approval.

Coordinate workflow within the area of expertise. Distribute work, answer inquiries, and assist other buyers in resolving problems.

Consult with the manager to monitor work progress and stay updated on section status. Suggest improvements for work procedures to enhance efficiency.

Provide training to new staff and for new procedures.

Perform buyer duties as necessary to ensure work completion.
