What Does a Vehicle Service Technician Do?As a Vehicle Service Technician Apprentice, you’ll dive into the world of vehicle mechanics and electronics. You’ll learn how to keep vehicles safe, efficient, and road-ready by working on:
- Engine, exhaust, and brake systems
- Air conditioning and vehicle electronics
- Security systems and more
- Carrying out vehicle servicing and maintenance
- Repairing and replacing parts
- Helping customers understand what work their car needs
- Estimating repair times
- Recording all work done on vehicles
You'll work side-by-side with expert technicians, learning real-world skills that set you up for a long-term career.
You’ll be:- Hands-on from day one
- Gaining technical knowledge and practical experience
- Working on iconic automotive brands
Qualification:
Complete a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) qualification in 36 months.

- National 4 or above in English, Maths, and Science or a Craft subject (Standard Grades 1–4 and Intermediates accepted)

- Apprentices aged 16–18 (or 19+ in their first year) will earn at least £8 per hour, in line with the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices.
