If you’re a CPA who enjoys leading audits and developing people, but doesn’t want a “partner or out” culture, this is the kind of firm people tend to stay with.
This independent mid-sized firm (around 150 people) has grown steadily and has won Best Place to Work multiple times. It shows in the way they treat their people, their flexibility, and their culture.
The roleYou’ll manage complex audit engagements from planning through completion, act as the main point of contact for clients, and support and mentor Seniors and Associates. The client base is mixed across for-profit and non-profit, and while specialisation is encouraged over time, they’re happy for you to join as a well-rounded Audit Manager and let your strengths shape your path.
Busy season & balanceBusy season typically runs 54–60 hours. Outside of that, the expectation drops back to 40-hour weeks max, with time built in for training, mentoring, and development.
ProgressionThere’s no rigid up-or-out structure. Partnership is a genuine option (one current partner started as an intern), but there are also strong leadership paths in people development, technical work, or business development.
YouCPA (or close to qualifying) with experience managing audit engagements and leading teams in public accounting.
The package100% employer-paid healthcare (individual), minimum 4 weeks PTO, profit sharing for all employees, and a genuine focus on long-term career sustainability.
Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply the old-fashioned way, or just reach out to start a conversation with Imogen via Linked In or the Distinct Recruitment website or contact her cell at . She’ll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further.
Think you only have 87% of the required experience? Perfect - apply anyway. The CPA firms we partner with want diverse, interesting people, not corporate clones stamped from the same tedious mould.
Don’t overthink it. The worst outcome is a pleasant conversation about your career. The best? Well, that's where it gets rather exciting.
