Work Schedule:

8 am - 5 pm monday - friday. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.

Rate of Pay:

This is a Full-Time Administrative position at grade 15, with an annual salary range of $63,042 to $84,056. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

The Risk and Insurance Manager is responsible for establishing and advancing comprehensive, campus‑wide risk management practices that protect the safety, assets, and operational integrity of the college. This role identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks by collaborating with departments and cross‑functional teams, developing safety policies, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position manages the institution’s property and casualty insurance programs, works with insurers to reduce loss exposure, and administers property and injury claims.

In addition, the Risk and Insurance Manager oversees the college-wide business contract process, including intake, redlining, negotiation, assessment of contractual risk, and coordination of final approval and signatures. The role also serves as the Planning Officer on the Emergency Operations Committee (EOC), contributing to emergency preparedness and institutional resilience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • 1. Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ experience in risk management or contract administration, or relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 2. Certified School Risk Manager certification (CSRM) required. Candidates without the certification must enroll in the program within the first six months of employment.
  • 3. Working knowledge of insurance policies, contracts, safety standards, and risk management terminology.
  • 4. Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
  • 5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications..
  • 6. Understanding of and proficiency in risk management regulations and laws applicable to higher education, including areas such as construction, athletics, student travel and activities, classroom and lab safety, insurance claims, liability, study abroad programs, international student issues, faculty travel, and legal compliance.
  • 7. Understanding and application of contract law, including interpreting, evaluating, redlining, and proposing contract language, and effectively negotiating terms with vendors.
