Under the direction of the Early Childhood Supervisor of the Parks and Recreation Department. This part-time position will be held accountable for the supervision and safety of program participants. In addition, this position requires participation in sports, arts and crafts, and all other assigned activities in an outdoor environment.
The Drop In Playground Program is a program held in the neighborhood parks in Elgin. Children are encouraged to drop-in when they need something new and exciting to fill their time. This program is held Monday-Friday 10 am to 3 pm.
- Responsible to the Activity Supervisor and the Program Coordinator.
- Responsible for planning and implementing various sports, arts and crafts, and other assigned activities as well as participation in the activities at a specified park within the City of Elgin.
- Responsible for the safety of all participants during the scheduled hours.
- Responsible for completing and submitting accident and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for helping to implement daily activities.
- Responsible for taking daily attendance and ensuring all participants have emergency cards on file.
- Responsible for distributing lunches for the Summer Lunch Program and completing all required paperwork for the program.
- Will be required to work 10am to 3 pm, Monday-Friday. Vacation time is discouraged during the program days.
- Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing including provided staffshirt.
- Responsible for following and implementing the approved disciplinepolicy.
- Responsible for being certified in CPR and first aid and being able to administer first aid when necessary. Training will be provided.
- Must be courteous and polite to families and children.
- Must be available for training prior to the program startdate.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environment all summer.
- Energetic and enthusiastic individual
- CPR and AED Certification(provided)
- Child and Adult Care Food Program Training(provided)
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to implement and participate in a wide range of activities
- Ability to supervise children ages 6–12-year-olds
- Minimum 16 yearsold
- Experience working with children in teaching or coaching setting preferred
25 hours per week from June1st–July
31st. Monday-Friday 10am to 3pm.
5-10 hours will also be required for training at the end of May
