Job Description Summary
MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is searching for a PRN Advanced Practice Provider. The successful applicant will be an APP interested in working on a PRN basis to care for patients at MUSC Health’s Urgent Care located in Elgin, SC. The APP will join a busy and thriving urgent care working alongside physicians and advanced practice providers and must be able to work in a high‑volume clinic while providing compassionate patient care.

- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN.
- APRN or FNP (Family NP): birth to death; stable chronic disease state management; primary care across the lifespan.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an APP in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- DHEC and DEA.
- Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
- Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
- Willingness to obtain DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals.
- Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency upon hire as approved by the Primary Supervising Physician.
- Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician.
- Documents and bills for direct care provided.
- Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
- Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
- Participates in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates learning of other new team members.
- Maintains licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law.

Elgin Urgent Care Medical Pavilion provides 24/7 access to immediate medical care for non‑emergent conditions. The center focuses on delivering prompt and convenient treatment for urgent but non‑emergency health issues.
Life in Elgin, SCElgin lies within Kershaw and Richland counties. It is located in the central part of South Carolina, northeast of Columbia and part of the Columbia Metropolitan Area.
