Summer school occurs Monday through Friday with no school on June 19, 2026 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.

Staff hours: 7:30 am to 1:15 pm
Student school day: 7:45 am to 1:00 pm
Summer School Rate: $46.20 (with TRS)

Function / Position Summary
To develop in each pupil an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise;
to motivate each pupil to cultivate physical fitness along with emotional and social health; to identify
and develop pupils' talents in terms of physical achievement; to develop strength, skill agility, poise
and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports in accordance with each
pupil's ability.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythm and dance,
Education and School district U-46, along with other appropriate learning activities.
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and
- Plans a program of study that follows district guidelines and, as much as possible, meets
- Implements researched-based teaching strategies that engage all students;
- Creates an environment conducive to learning and motivates students through effective
- Plans for and guides the learning process toward the mastery of curriculum goals, and
communicated to students.
- As appropriate, implements assessments of student progress and communicates progress
- Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior and motivates all students to

- Bachelor's Degree with major or minor in Physical Education from regionally accredited
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a High School (9-12), Gr. 6-12 or PK-12
Experience / Knowledge
- Related work experience preferred.
- Teaching experience is preferred, but not necessary for hiring.
- Must be physically fit to interact with students in a P.E. setting.
- May be required to drive between locations.
- May require physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or
- May require prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasional stooping, bending and reaching.
- This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. U-46
