Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Elgin, IL
Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting their academic journey as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher Itinerant for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract position offers the rewarding opportunity to provide specialized instruction and advocacy to K-12 students across multiple school settings near Elgin, IL. What you'll bring:
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education with the Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally across multiple grade levels
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to travel between schools as an itinerant teacher
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a collaborative approach with general education staff and families
In this role, you will:
  • Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students on your caseload, delivering services according to their IEPs
  • Serve as the primary DHH teacher for students, ensuring their accommodations and instructional minutes are met each week
  • Create and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse hearing needs and learning styles
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to support educational and communication access
  • Travel between school sites to serve students in various environments, both individually and in groups
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning and progress monitoring
