Job SummaryAssist the head coach in running an athletic team by coaching practices, games, and matches; recruit student‑athletes; model excellent behavior in coaching, recruiting, and mentoring to student‑athletes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Adherence to all policies, rules, and regulations of Elgin Community College, ISCC (Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference), and the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association).
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience.
- Certified AED/CPR.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum (AA) Associate Arts Degree.
- Ability to help the head coach create teamwork and team building.
- Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for performing tasks related to coaching the specific sport.
- Good judgment in maintaining positive coaching behavior.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and strategies to support the head coach.
- Assist the head coach in organizing and coaching practices and games/matches.
- Assist with recruiting student‑athletes and communicating with athletes, parents, and high school/travel coaches.
- Assist in off‑season training and open gyms for current team and future recruits.
- Adhere to all institutional and NJCAA rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned that pertain to the job description.
