Position: 26-27 Full Time Kindergarten Teacher

Kindergarten Teaching Position

St. Raymond School in Joliet, IL is seeking candidates for a self‑contained kindergarten teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Candidates should demonstrate a love for children, foster critical and deep thinking, and show a commitment to continuous growth. They should also understand the role of play‑based learning and hands‑on exploration in early childhood development.

Position Purpose

The teacher is a ministerial employee who commits to supporting and strengthening the Catholic Church’s values. Teachers convey Catholic teachings through personal and professional conduct and carry out the school’s mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Observe strictly the Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Instruct children in assigned subjects, guide learning, and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Incorporate purposeful play‑based learning experiences that foster creativity, problem‑solving, collaboration, communication, and social‑emotional growth.
  • Be present at scheduled classes and remain in the classroom except for emergencies.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned to Common Core Standards and Diocese of Joliet Catholic Standards, including daily learning targets, activities, and assessments.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods, including for students with special needs.
  • Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals.
  • Integrate technology into the curriculum through instructional strategies.
  • Teach in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings.
  • Supervise students and maintain discipline before, during, and after school.
  • Promote positive interaction among students and with staff.
  • Establish standards of student behavior to support a high‑achieving, high‑thinking learning environment.
  • Build and maintain a vibrant school culture centered on joy, respect, and love.
  • Value parents as partners by maintaining frequent contact and inviting them to engage in their child’s schooling.
  • Communicate professionally with all constituents: administration, pastor, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents.
  • Analyze student data and teach small groups based on data.
  • Input daily attendance, weekly academic, and behavioral data into the FACTS system.
  • Conduct Parent/Teacher/Student conferences twice per year and communicate regularly with families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to advance the school mission.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and prescribed in‑service training opportunities.
  • Attend teacher institutes as required by the school and the Catholic Schools Office.
  • Complete Catholic Identity Formation Training and other required professional development from the Diocese of Joliet.
  • Show willingness to learn and grow through active participation in professional meetings.
  • Serve on committees and engage in project work outside classroom time.
  • Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintain professional status through appropriate dress and communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal or pastor.
Education and Experience
  • Hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out‑of‑state certificate from a reciprocal state. Enrollment in an accredited program toward licensure is acceptable.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred; teaching religion or theology courses is required.
Annual Salary Range

$31,824 – $58,352 (Prorated based on % of full‑time equivalency)

  • Final salary will be determined by relevant teaching experience and education.
