Wheeling High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. - Provide specialized instruction and support to students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Modify and differentiate curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Effectively manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student success.
- Utilize technology to enhance student learning and functional capabilities.
- Provide strong case management and maintain accurate student records.
- Plan and utilize the support of Instructional Support personnel.
- Develop instructional programming that meets a wide range of student abilities and educational needs.
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS 1 endorsement.
- Experience working with students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.
- Strong understanding of strategies related to executive functioning, differentiation of instruction, curriculum modification.
- Strong classroom behavior management skills.
- Strong and effective case management skills, including writing IEPs and implementing behavior intervention plans.
- Requires strong organizational and communication skills.
- Skilled at planning and utilizing Instructional Support personnel.
- Demonstrated skills in modifying lessons and activities of the general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with multiple disabilities.
- Experience with students diagnosed with ED, LD, OHI and Autism.
- Knowledge about technology to enhance functional capabilities of students with disabilities.
- Develop instructional programming that meets a wide range of student abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive learning environment.
- ELL endorsement preferred.
- Ability to speak Polish and/or Spanish is preferred.
