Position: Special Education Teacher (LBS1 Required)

Special Education Teacher (LBS1 Required)

Marklund Day School is hiring a Special Education Teacher. New grads are welcome to apply and our school is expanding. We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teachers for the Life Skills Teacher position at our Day School with openings in Elgin, Bloomingdale, and Geneva, IL.

Salary:
The starting salary is $61,500–$65,000 based on qualifications and experience. After the first year the salary increases by $5,000 to $66,500–$70,000. Additionally, teachers receive a $3,000 contract incentive bonus each year after the first year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver individualized instruction based on each student’s needs.
  • Provide clear, consistent structure for the classroom, meeting academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Draft, create, and monitor IEPs for assigned students in the classroom.
  • Supervise and provide feedback for paraprofessionals.
  • Teach during the Extended School Year (ESY).

Program features:

  • Highly sensory-driven instruction.
  • Positive behavioral interventions.
  • Individualized student support.

Mentoring program for new teachers includes:

  • Initial onboarding and training.
  • Assistance from instructional coaches with in‑classroom support.
  • In‑room coaching.
  • RBTP in Life Skills classrooms.

Qualifications for this position:

  • Graduate of an accredited college with current Illinois teaching credentials (PEL license). Must include LBS
    1. Must meet state guidelines for school accreditation.
  • Preferred experience educating children with special needs, especially those with profound disabilities.
  • Ability to perform essential functions and meet functional and environmental requirements.
