Qualifications:
Letters of application, recommendations and/or references, ability to work as a team member and previous experience with elementary and middle school age children is preferred. Applicants must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Learning Disabilities/Behavioral Disorders-LBSI endorsement. CPI Training preferred. Past experience working with students with behavioral needs and/or students who present on the Autism Spectrum. Spanish preferred but not required.

A Life Wise teacher will combine in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities to share the gospel with churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. Our ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching children.
Life Wise Teacher Position
A Life Wise teacher will combine in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities to share the gospel with churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. Our ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching children.
Qualifications and Experience- A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
- A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the Life Wise Academy Statement of Faith
- Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the Life Wise Academy Statement of Faith
- Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
- Complete the Life Wise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the Life Wise classroom
- Participate in the annual Life Wise Summit each year
- Attend at least one Teachers Lounge or one Life Wise Meet-Up per year
- Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking Life Wise email
- Teach Life Wise Classes
- Utilize the Life Wise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
- Implement the Life Wise curriculum in the classroom
- Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
- Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
- Apply Life Wise policies, procedures and resources
- Maintain Records
- Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to Life Wise program director and/or school officials as needed
- Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips
- Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed
- Maintain the Classroom
- Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom
- Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
- Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
- Communicate
- Act as a Life Wise Academy ambassador within the community
- Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
- Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
- Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program director
- Promote and communicate Life Wise s religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization s core values and beliefs
