Consider an exciting opportunity as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the Elgin, IL area. This itinerant role allows you to collaborate with fellow educational professionals while providing vital services to students ages Pre-K through transition across multiple school sites.
Youll play a key part as a Vision Related Services Leader, guiding and mentoring staff, sharing best practices, and helping shape resources and supports for visually impaired students, their families, and school personnel. From coaching new team members to developing effective strategies for student success, youll help cultivate a culture of empowerment and inclusion throughout the district.
Qualifications andExperience:
- Active Professional Educators License (PEL) with endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
- Masters degree in a relevant field
- At least 5 years of school-based experience working with visually impaired students
- Expertise in providing direct instruction and adapting curriculum
- Strong advocacy and mentoring skills
- Fingerprinting and time-sensitive credentialing required prior to start
- Deliver direct vision services and support to students on an itinerant basis
- Mentor, coach, and train new and returning department staff
- Provide expert guidance in best practices and problem-solving
- Partner with families, educators, and specialists to foster student growth
- Support the Vision Related Services Department in enhancing resources and advocacy
- Effectively manage caseload spanning a range of ages from Pre-K to transition-aged students
This is a full-time contract position, with 37.5 hours per week and potential to discuss a part-time schedule if preferred. The role is entirely on-site, ensuring direct, personal impact for students and staff.
