What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the automated manufacturing equipment that produces Tesla's industry changing products. This position will push boundaries in automation and set the bar for excellence in automated machine design as no other company than Tesla can do. Tesla is driven to excellence in product design and manufacturing, and our vertical integration enables working directly with product design engineers to optimize the product design for automated manufacturing.

We expect this person to be organized, take pride in their work, have analytical ability, attention to detail, and collaborate in a fast moving design environment. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What You'll Do

* Develop and optimize designs in 3D CAD software with associated CAE tools

* Validate manufacturing, assembly, and service feasibility

* Complete and release component designs and documentation, including 2D drawings and BOM's

* Take direction from project team members

* Validate components per defined engineering requirements

* Conduct engineering studies (i.e. FEA, DFM) and report finding

* Resolve issues and concerns with cross-functional teams including engineering, supply chain, production, and service

* Participate in the sourcing process and manage engineering relationships with suppliers

* Balance workload based on defined priorities

* Deliver to defined schedules

What You'll Bring

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

* Basic knowledge of GD&T

* Exposure to component design, analysis, and validation

* Great technical and interpersonal communication

Expected Compensation

$82,440 - $248,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
