Test Engineer, Electronics Technician, Hardware Engineer
Tree Top Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Test Technician to support sensor product testing in agency certification test labs. This individual will play a key role in the successful certification of sensor products by preparing lab setups, executing test procedures, collecting and documenting results, and supporting troubleshooting efforts throughout the testing process.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on technician with experience in lab testing, embedded systems, microcontrollers, and firmware support who enjoys working closely with engineering teams in a fast‑paced, highly technical environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare lab setups and equipment for sensor product testing in agency certification test labs
- Ensure all required tools, instruments, hardware, and resources are available before testing begins
- Collaborate with engineers and test supervisors to understand test requirements, procedures, and compliance standards
- Execute test procedures according to established protocols and test plans
- Perform functional, performance, and reliability testing on sensor products
- Collect, record, and organize test data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Support data acquisition and data assimilation activities during testing
- Document test results, observations, and deviations from expected outcomes
- Assist in generating certification reports and testing performance documentation
- Troubleshoot test issues and anomalies, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams on corrective actions
- Maintain and update test plans, reports, and logs to ensure traceability and compliance
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of sensor products and test setups
- Perform firmware flashing and configuration for test units and embedded devices
- Perform soldering and basic hardware rework as needed
- Support routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and instruments
- Experience working as a Test Technician, Lab Technician, Engineering Technician, or in a similar hands‑on technical role
- Experience supporting lab‑based product testing, validation, or certification efforts
- Ability to follow detailed test plans and procedures while documenting results accurately
- Hands‑on experience with data acquisition and test documentation
- Experience preparing certification reports or supporting testing performance documentation
- Familiarity with firmware flashing and working with embedded hardware
- Working knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded systems
- Experience with UART and RS232 communication protocols
- Soldering experience for test support, hardware modifications, or rework
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, test supervisors, and cross‑functional teams
- Experience testing sensor products
- Familiarity with Texas Instruments (TI) platforms
- Familiarity with Microchip platforms
- Experience working in agency certification test labs
- Exposure to reliability, performance, and compliance testing environments
- $40.00 to $50.00 per hour
, depending on experience and qualifications
