Motorola Solutions is a world leader in professional mobile communications systems, implementing mission‑critical digital mobile communication systems for government and public‑safety customers.
Job DescriptionOur team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high‑performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we deploy mission‑critical communication systems. Many systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers’ sub‑systems. With the growth of data services, some customers’ mobile wireless networks are enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video.
RoleResponsibilities
- Lead customer presentations
- Lead system staging
- Complete system documentation
- Perform live system upgrades
- Ensure the integrity of architecture and design
- Execute field engineering duties during radio system upgrade cycles
- Upgrade and deploy various devices, including network gear, Windows‑based devices, virtual machines, and Motorola proprietary devices
- Provide customer‑facing technical support throughout upgrade efforts, primarily traveling to customer locations in the province of Quebec, Canada
- Experience with radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
- Good understanding of IP networking, network design methodologies and troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA‑Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar
- Experience working with Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon
- Direct end‑user customer experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex topics to non‑technical audiences
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT or Networking
- OR 3‑5 years of Engineering or Wireless Communications experience
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with ability to obtain RMCP security clearance as required by government customer
- Must be fluent in both English and French
Over 50% travel required.
