About the role
We are partnering with a leading global biopharmaceutical company based in Illinois to find an experienced EHS Engineer for a 3-month contract engagement. You will support day-to-day environmental, health, and safety operations at a regulated manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and reinforcing a strong safety culture on-site.
Key responsibilities- Support the implementation and monitoring of EHS programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across manufacturing and laboratory areas
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Deliver EHS training sessions and toolbox talks for site personnel
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, records, and regulatory reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, engineering, quality) to drive continuous improvement in safety performance
- Support hazardous waste management and environmental compliance activities
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environment
- Solid knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Illinois state EHS regulations
- Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse site teams
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities on a short-term engagement
- Experience in a GMP-regulated (FDA/cGMP) biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical environment
- Relevant certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 management systems
- Competitive contract rate commensurate with experience
