Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Manufacturing Engineer
We are looking to recruit a Service and Support Engineer. Travel expectations for this role typically exceed 90%.
This is an excellent opportunity to use your technical knowledge along with interpersonal skills to deliver service, advice and support for the installation, maintenance and repair of Renishaw’s innovative 3D Additive Manufacturing products.
Responsibilities- Assist customers with site‑specific location preparations.
- Install and commission new machines and ancillary equipment at customer sites.
- Provide general safety, operation and maintenance training.
- Perform specified preventive maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose and complete recommended repairs and replace wear and spare parts.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment failures and determine solutions.
- Organize required spare parts or other necessities prior to service intervention.
- Produce detailed reports to clients and Renishaw, including service, time and expense reports.
- Provide telephone and email support for troubleshooting and parts ordering.
- Assist the solution center with testing, operation and customer acceptance steps of equipment.
- Complete travel arrangements on the most cost‑effective and time‑effective terms.
- Travel up to 90% domestically.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of an associate’s or technical college degree in mechanical, electrical or automation engineering, or up to 2 years of related field service experience in additive manufacturing or CNC machining. (Equivalent combination of education and experience.)
- Must be eligible to use and access ITAR‑controlled data in compliance with U.S. export control laws.
Preferred Knowledge and
Experience:
- Knowledge and experience with Renishaw or similar additive manufacturing products.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, electronic and mechanical concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with GD&T.
- Information technology aptitude.
- Strong mathematical skills (including trigonometry).
- Hands‑on, tinkering and problem‑solving mindset.
Skills and
Competencies:
- Manual dexterity and physical ability to install products in a normal production environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Conflict‑management ability.
- Read and understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics and mechanical assembly drawings & instructions.
- Experience assembling mechanical & electrical mid‑size capital equipment (e.g., CNC mills, lathes, plastic extrusion systems, robotic platforms, automotive manufacturing cells).
- Experience with electrical low and high voltage equipment and measurement instruments.
- Excellent computer skills (hardware & software for machine‑specific applications).
- Poweruser level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong time‑management and multitasking skills.
- Customer‑focused communication.
- Self‑motivated, eager to learn and understand products and tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
