Machine Tool Applications Engineer

Job Summary

The Applications Engineer provides solution-oriented technical and commercial support to customers, primarily focusing on the installation and training of Renishaw machine tool products at customer facilities. The role involves understanding customer needs, developing application solutions, and interfacing with customers across a variety of industries while collaborating internally with Customer Service, Marketing and National Sales teams. The position requires extensive travel throughout the U.S. and occasional international travel.

• Installation of Renishaw Machine Tool Products on CNC machines
• Develop hardware and software solutions based on customer requirements
• Generate and install software for Renishaw products
• Conduct training on Renishaw Machine Tool Products at customer sites
• Provide product training for Renishaw staff
• Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams
• Work closely with the UK product development team
• Assist with the introduction of new products
• Set up and attend trade shows
• Other duties as assigned or requested

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
• Electrical skills: understanding of schematics, relays, wiring, PLC
• Experience with the operation of CNC machine tools
• Experience with CNC programming (G/M code)
• Eligibility to use and access ITAR controlled data

• Preferred:
  General experience with CAD/CAM/solid modeling software
• Experience with a variety of CNC machine types and controls
• General knowledge of custom macro/parametric programming

• Comfortable operating and programming CNC equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Mechanical aptitude (use of power and hand tools, cable routing, assembly)
• Electrical aptitude (use of multimeter, wiring diagrams, relays)
• Ability to comprehend and produce technical documentation and presentations
• Understanding of engineering drawings and measurement principals (including GD&T)
• Microsoft product knowledge
• Information technology knowledge
• Organized and capable of scheduling work, setting priorities, and coordinating with customers
• Interpersonal and verbal written communication skills
• Conflict management skills

Annual salary up to $85,000 (depending on level and location). Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and geographic location.
