Entry Level Materials and Process Engineering – Collins Aerospace (RTX) – Rockford, IL
Responsibilities- Participate as the non‑metallic materials engineering representative on multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to validate hardware and/or process conformance to related specification requirements with an emphasis on non‑metallic and elastomeric materials.
- Interpret specification requirements and communicate with Collins Operations sites and suppliers as required.
- Manage and collaborate with engineering teams across Collins Aerospace to solve materials and process challenges.
- Receive training and skill development to support RRCA and process improvement activities.
- Collaborate with Materials & Process subject matter experts and technical fellows.
- Learn to interpret and update aerospace material drawings and specifications.
- Obtain training to operate and interpret results from state‑of‑the‑art analytical instrumentation.
- Become a CORE Apprentice using the Collins CORE operating system, methods, and tools.
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined by federal regulations.
- Experience with Aerospace materials and processes.
- Experience with elastomers, polymers, and chemical regulations.
- Experience in technical evaluations, communication, and reporting.
- Six‑Sigma certification (or equivalent) or root cause analysis experience.
- Competitive salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
