Job Summary
The Senior Engineer provides technical leadership in the planning, design, and execution of projects involving Exelon’s utility infrastructure including electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, leading complex engineering studies, and ensuring strategic alignment with safety, reliability, and compliance goals.
Responsibilities- Lead advanced electric, gas, and/or communications system performance analysis and outage investigations.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies for grid modernization.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for major projects.
- Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct field inspections and resolve high‑impact technical challenges.
- Lead and perform assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
- Perform engineering tasks and projects associated with critical or analytical engineering projects.
- Evaluate complex technical issues requiring highly specialized knowledge and recommend actions or programs for their resolution.
- Evaluate, develop, implement, and lead projects with significant financial and operational impact.
- Provide detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and guidance to others.
- Participate in department planning through field/site walk‑downs, attend meetings and conference calls, provide budget recommendations, and monitor performance.
- Support pilot product implementation, including planning, coordination, and execution of initial deployments.
- Coordinate procurement and ordering of cabinets, equipment, and required materials to support project timelines.
- Drive timeline oversight and execution scheduling to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and aligned with program milestones.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to define and refine processes, procedures, and scope requirements.
- Provide on‑site support during initial installations to validate execution, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to design and standards.
- Lead discussions on maintenance strategies and battery supply management to ensure reliability and sustainability of deployed assets.
- Collaborate with Lead Responsible Engineers to review designs, perform redlining, and ensure scope accuracy and completeness.
- Lead reporting and analytics efforts, leveraging Power BI to track performance metrics, maintenance activities, and financials.
- Manage Hut/Cabinet maintenance tracking, ensuring accurate documentation and status visibility.
- Oversee financial tracking, including budget monitoring, cost analysis, and reporting to support program decision‑making.
- Develop testing strategies, installation guidelines, and standard procedures to ensure consistency and quality in field implementation.
- Drive timeline oversight and execution scheduling to ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3) Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem‑solving approaches and engineering theory.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise.
- 7+ years of professional engineering experience (1) (3) Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.
- Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Minimum of three related career experiences (4) (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR
- Lead Member of a recognized industry committee OR
- Professional Engineer's License (2), advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification (1) Master’s degree in Engineering reduces the OJT experience requirement by 1 year.
