We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to drive development, industrialization and introduction of manufacturing processes within our Product Development team at our Elgin, IL facility.

HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go‑to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed‑in value‑added products, and Product Development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • The development & industrialization of all necessary manufacturing processes within assigned projects, including the planning, procurement and implementation of the required manufacturing resources (machines, fixtures, tools).
  • The calculation of Manufacturing costs, injection molding, assembly etc.
  • Supporting P‑FMEA’s
  • Create process flow charts and production layouts for NPI
  • Create production related views in SAP (routing, BOM, equipment, work center, calculation)
  • Collaborate with local production Industrial Engineers to analyze capacity impacts of NPI
  • Assessment/estimation of the investment costs
  • Create specifications for required production equipment
  • Participate in the evaluation of concept studies and potential projects for the project and location decision
  • Drive the coordination of global change requests
  • Push further development of the product development process as well as the necessary methods and standards
  • Proactively communicate with employees, supervisors and other departments
  • Participate in the active transfer of knowledge in the global operational environment and at interfaces
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or comparable specialized training preferred.

    Note:

    Extensive relevant experience and proven expertise may substitute for the required degree.
  • 5‑10 years engineering work experience in a related industry including at least 2 years of experience with injection molding product methodology.
  • Computer skills:
    Windows based applications, AutoCAD.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of important QC principles.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Open to some travel (including International).

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $70,000 – $100,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
  • This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
  • 21 days PTO (Paid Time Off) to start – quickly earn more PTO as you stick with us (36 days max).
